Common People

An interesting little video produced by On the Commons and The New Press.

The New Press was started by André Schiffrin - who I had the pleasure to meet briefly in Paris last year - and who is one of the remaining truly independent voices in publishing.

Also, don't forget that all of my stories released online are dones so with a creative commons licence - meaning you can store, share and distribute them as you please.

Acne Studios

jhaynes-by-adambiles-2009.jpgAcne Studios asked if they could use a photo I took of Jim Haynes when I interviewed him for Ling. Naturally I accepted.

See the Acne article here.

See my Ling article here.

Visit Jim's site here.

Jim is a powerful spirit, and even though I needed only 400 words for Ling we spoke for several hours. Sometime soon I'll post a transcript of the interview on my site.

My work in this month's Ling

Capital Letters: 6 writers compose stories inspired by 3 photos of different cities. Not actually my writing, but I worked to bring in Ellis Avery and Jonathan Trigell.

Let's Start A Magazine

"let's  start a magazine

to hell with literature
we want something redblooded

lousy with pure
reeking with stark
and fearlessly obscene

but really clean
get what I mean
let’s not spoil it
let’s make it serious

something authentic and delirious
you know something genuine like a mark
in a toilet

graced with guts and gutted
with grace"

squeeze your nuts and open your face

-  E. E. Cummings, No Thanks (1935)
